Pinderfields Hospital school was established in 1948 by the Local Education Authority to meet the educational needs of sick children in hospital. We still meet these needs but in addition we provide education for sick and injured children who are unable to attend their local school for a variety of medical reasons

In April 1998 the teaching unit at Pontefract General Infirmary became part of the school and we were then known as Pinderfields & Pontefract Hospital School.

Since September 2004 The Wrenthorpe Centre has been opened to accommodate secondary aged day students with a medical need and because of the changed model of medical care in-patient tuition is focused at the Pinderfields Hospital site.

The early years assessment centre relocated to Pinders Primary school in 2007 which provides inclusive assessment facilities for your children with a complelex medical need.
